Adapted from a very poor recipe so amounts may still not be correct.
Simmer the lentils for 25 minutes in the salted water. Remove any froth and most of the excess water (? original resulted in a soup).
Add the stock cube, stir and simmer for another 40 minutes on the lowest possible setting stirring occasionally. The aim is a mash but it will continue to thicken after cooking so leave for an hour then reheat when needed.
Original recipe said serve with fried onions and garlic with garam masala and turmeric but that did not add anything.
